Experience, friendships, and confidence are just some of the things a gained while interning with the in-house creative team for Cazenovia College. However, for a department that an organization relies so heavily on, I was somewhat underwhelmed as there was a lack of seriousness about the in-house creative team. For the department that is responsible for representing the college I expected a much more intense environment. The second article above makes it clear on how important a private creative team can be. Several advantages of a private creative team is the main reason for so many businesses to have one. Disadvantages that the second article mentioned appeared all to be the result of a creative team not pushing themselves for improvement. Fortunately, the first article supports this need for a challenge by making the argument that in-house design team awards are not only a fun idea, but a necessity as teams push themselves for recognition. Awards bring to a in-house creative team a break from the day to day work. It is not all that uncommon to hear about how in-house design can get boring after looking at the same design guidelines for an extended amount of time. One item I believe is worth mentioning that neither article talked heavily about is how awards can bring in new and desirable team additions. Due to in-house being notorious for repetition I personally do not want to work in in-house design for the sake of having new challenges. However, a trophy case of in-house design awards would make working in-house design a bit more desirable.
